Inside My Festive Make Up Bag

December 15, 2015

It’s the season for Christmas parties, New Year celebrations, mulled wine and a lot of dancing. We all want to look our best and so I wanted to share my festive make up bag essentials to make sure you stand out from the crowd this winter! For me, it’s all about having the right lip and eye colours, and combating the ‘winter face’ with the best highlighters and bronzers out there.

For a glowing face, it is so important to have a good highlighting or illuminating powder. Even though it is a subtle addition to your make up, it truly makes all the different – especially in photographs! It makes you look much brighter and more defined; I love to put mine just under the arches of the brows, down the centre of the nose and on the top of my cheek bones. I also love putting a touch on my cupids bow to make the lips look a little fuller.

DIOR – Gold Compact Powder (Buy Here)

I absolutely love Dior products but I was blown away when I tried this powder, it gives the most beautiful shimmer. This is definitely my favourite illuminating powder I’ve used and the packaging is also just so chic, you feel like a 1950s movie star whenever you’re using it.

URBAN DECAY – Illuminated Powder (Buy Here)

I’ve only recently discovered Urban Decay and its one of my new favourite make up lines. It’s much more affordable than some of the bigger brands but the product is still just as good. I adore this powder and is great to use on the body as well.

I am a big fan of smokey eyes using just deep browns and golds. I think it suits all eye colours and looks so glamorous without looking too intense so I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect eye pallettes! I like to keep the shape round when I’m going for a more toned down look, but if I’m wearing my hair in an up do then I brush it out for a more cat-eye feel.

URBAN DECAY – Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette (Buy Here)

Urban Decay have won me over again with this pallette! The colours are just perfect and there is such a nice range so that you can really play around with the intensity of colours that you want depending on the occasion. I like to put a light gold base, add a dark brown near the root of the lashes and then use the sparkly gold shimmer on top of the lid for a final touch. I then always use a really light colour on the inside corners of the eyes to make them look more open.

TOM FORD – Eye Colour Quad in Orchid Haze (Buy Here)

This bronzer needs a category of its own because I am that obsessed with it. This is the perfect colour all year round, it gives you a natural summer glow without making you look orange (which I’m always SO paranoid about!). This is a bronzer I always go back to however many times I try something new!

This season I am all about dark brown and maroon lips! I think it is so chic and sophisticated whilst still being really fun, sexy and on trend. I also love to use an bright red lip that has a hint of orange in it when I’m going for something bright.
