Get Your Flare On!

May 11, 2014

If someone had told me a year ago I would be wearing flares, I would have laughed first and then thought that yes, if I attend a 1970s themed party then MAYBE. But they do say history has a funny way of repeating itself, and fast forward to 2014 and wide leg trousers have made a comeback and I am loving it.

Flares, otherwise known as ‘bell-bottoms’, are no longer seen as an items owned by has-been hippies or hip hop lovers, they are now an essential item in the wadrobe of the chic and glamourous. Not to mention that this comes at a time when the cropped-tee trend is taking over, what with supermodels and superstars flaunting there taunt tummies every time they step out the door, and high waisted flares are my new favourite way to pair the crop with a trouser. Apart from making you look uber trendy, the other added benefit of rocking a flare is that when your not feeling quite so body confident, and your not as proud of your ‘thigh-gap’ as Gisele or Beyonce, then wide leg trousers are the quick and easy way to hide your insecurities. Worn with a leather jacket, killer heels, and a blouse or cropped t-shirt, you will walk out the door looking like you should be a permanent resident at Paris fashion week.
