I went into the absolutely stunning Matthew Williamson store on Bruton Street this week and was in fashion heaven. Embelishment, sequins, monochrome strips, star motifs, and fabulous fur and feathers were all part of the Autumn/Winter 2014 70s jet-set collection. The woman who wears this collection is ’empowered and composed, exuding a playful and exuberant spirit’.
So what was the inspiration behind this fabulousness? The store manager, the lovely James Williams, told me that Matthew had visited an apartment which was full of black and white furniture but with a gorgeous Georgian rug in the middle of it. Matthew had wondered who had lived in, and designed the interior of this place, and was inspired to create a collection imagining the wardrobe of the glamarous woman who had inhabited this apartment.
The accessories also embody the playful collection with its chainmail neckerchiefs, glitter belts and fur-pillow clutches. Great gift I hear you say?
The collection also includes many beautiful winter basics: leather pants, A-Line skirts, beautiful jumpers and super cool tees which are a beautiful and elegant fit. I want it all!!
