Fashion Week. That time of year where the fashion troops come out marching, bloggers come out in their hundreds, the FROW are dressed to perfection and mingling with fellow FROW friends at super-cool after parties we all want to be at, and the catwalk shows are a feast for our eyes (more like theatre productions than catwalks in some cases!). This year, RAWAN was fortunate enough to attend some of London’s best shows, Burberry, Julien MacDonald and Matthew Williamson to name but a few, but the real excitement was an excuse to get on the Eurostar to the city of love to see Paris Fashion Week in full swing.
Walking around Paris was like watching a catwalk in itself: It is not called Parisian Chic for nothing! The way that the women dress, and hold themselves, is inspirational – such elegance, and timelessness to their style, ensures they always ooze glamour and style. Their confidence too, in the way that they conduct themselves is staggering, and being in a city like this during fashions prime time is a true pleasure, for your eyes and your inner fashionista!
To take a few top style tips from the Parisians:
1) Invest in the perfect LBD (little black dress)
2) Go vintage! Find and buy pieces which are timeless, that you know you will be able to wear this season and the next, and the next after that!
3) Hold your head high and walk with confidence, remember “it’s 50% what you have, 50% what you think you have”
4) Hair Care – spend a little extra time in the morning, good hair can transform an outfit.
5) Embrace your femininity, own it, and love it.
Here are some snaps that founder and Head Stylist, Roxie Nafousi, took to share with you.
Where I stayed: Hotel Costes
The Hotel Costes oozes cool and sexy in equal measure. As soon as you walk in you are hit with the most unbelievable smell which the entire hotel smells of – and luckily for us, they allow you to buy their candles and room fragrances so your house can smell just as good.
Constantly busy, and filled with the coolest crowd in Paris, this place is a must go-to. The courtyard is a beautiful garden where you can drink the Costes version of Pimms (Pimms + Champagne – oui mon cherie, who drinks Pimms with lemonade these days?) so head their for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
What I Saw: Roland Mouret, Alexander McQueen, Mui Mui – need I say more?
Who I Saw: It was great to catch up in Paris with a few of my favourite people: the fabulous and wonderful designer Roland Mouret, the unbelievably hot-right-now photographer (who gets to photograph the most beautiful women in the world from Candice Swanepoel to Rihanna) Mariano Vivanco and his equally hot boyfriend Juni, the Taylor-Morris eyewear boys Hugo Taylor and Nicholas Delaportas, the gorgeous Emma Champtaloup who walked the runways exclusively for Prada and Givency this year, and not to mention Misty Rabbit who we can thank for the music production on our favourite fashion shows this year, from Topshop to Julien MacDonald – this girl rocks!
What I Found: I absolutely LOVED this store Manoush – such beautiful colours and quirky clothes. My favourite was the leopard print top – bringing two of this seaons trends together (animal print and pink). If your in France anytime soon – check this store out!
What I Ate: Croissants, Candy, and a lot of French Fries.
I can’t wait for next seasons show! What an electric place to be during fashion week, filled with beauty, passion and fun.
