Last year I went on a trip to Milan with Peroni Nastro Azzurro and I had the MOST magical time. I got to see, taste and smell the Italian influence on their beer and was transformed from someone who would never touch beer, to someone that actually really enjoyed the taste and flavours of it.
This summer Peroni Nastro Azzurro launched a brand new drink, Peroni Ambra, inspired by the classic Italian aperitivo, a pre-dinner drink designed to open the palate and stimulate the appetite. Its key ingredient is ‘Chinotto’, which Peroni source from Liguria in North West Italy – it is this ingredient that gives it such a rare and unique taste. Peroni Ambra is typically served from its 250ml bottle into a bespoke tumbler glass, over ice, and garnished with an orange twist, opening the senses in anticipation of the first sip.
I went to try the drink last week at their beautifully transformed riverside terrace at Somerset House where it is being served. It was a hot summers day in London and finding nice places to go and sit and drink outdoors can be surprisingly challenging! It was the perfect place to soak up the sun, eat delicious food and sip on the delightful new bittersweet Peroni Ambra. I literally felt like I had been transported to Italy! This is definitely going to be my new summer hang out!
