Last Tuesday while the whole world was on tenterhooks as they waited for the unveiling of the Chanel Spring 2014 Haute Couture fashion show our very own Roxie Nafousi, along with her friend Lilly Allen, witnessed Karl Lagerfeld’s beautiful creations live.
The Grand Palais in Paris had been turned into a revolving ice palace, which provided the perfect backdrop to unveil his collection. The collection focused on light fabrics of hand-woven cloth, romantic tweeds, feminine frills and flowing movement while key pieces included corseted midriffs and short skirts. Athleticism was also at the heart of the show as models sported metallic knee and elbow pads and hit the runway in a couture trainer featuring lace, pearls and tweed.
Karl Lagerfeld also encouraged his models to run and skip down the grand horseshoe staircase which reminded the audience of the liberating freedom that Coco Chanel bought to early twentieth century fashion. The finale was truly breathtaking as model of the moment Cara Delevingne closed the show against a backdrop of a live orchestra wearing a simple sheer bridal gown with a statement headpiece alongside Lagerfeld.
Roxie watched the whole show next to the rumoured girlfriend of Cara, Michelle Rodriguez, as they both watched her in awe. Roxie then headed back to the tranquil settings of one of her most favourite Parisian hotels Le Bristol where she dined and relaxed in its famous stylish settings.
Roxie finished her trip with a visit to the most beautiful part of Paris (in her opinion) Montmartre, just a 15-minute drive from the centre of Paris. The stunning cathedral is situated in a small, untouched rural village, which has the most exquisite view of the city she has ever come across. Walking around the romantic spot she felt as though she was in a film and encourages anyone heading to the city to check out the spot, as it was the perfect ending to her Parisian adventure.
