My Santorini Travel Guide

August 30, 2016

I have been lucky enough to travel quite a lot this year, but my trip to Santorini really stood out as one of the best. The stunning Greek island boasts the most exquisite views, sensational sunsets and divine food. It has a sense of calm and I truly felt the most relaxed I have all year. There is no sense of rush here, which makes for a nice change compared to busy city life. I have come back feeling rejuvenated and clear headed – this trip did exactly what a holiday is supposed to do! It’s an incredibly very romantic place making it perfect for couples (or proposals, boys listen up *wink*). It’s also worth noting that it is probably the brightest place I’ve ever been and there is very little cloud cover so make sure to bring your SPF and some sunnies!!

Where To Stay

I stayed at the hotel San Antonio, which has a stunning infinity pool looking onto nothing but ocean and mountains as far as the eye can see. The food and cocktails were some of the best I have had in a hotel and I was impressed with every single meal I had. The staff were always friendly and the concierge can help you organise all your reservations and any actives on the island. The rooms are spacious and the beds were so comfortable I honestly slept like a baby!

Where To Eat

Selene

In the area of Pygros (the highest point of the island) is a restaurant which has been named one of the top 100 in the WORLD! Selene offers fine dining with a gastronomy concept making it an unforgettable experience. Try the Spinach Risotto starter and enjoy a glass of their delicious wine! It’s a great spot to watch the sunset but it gets busier around 9pm when the outside dining area is lit beautifully.

Sphinx Restaurant

A stunning restaurant in Fira (the centre of Santorini) which serves the most incredible Italian food. The mushroom and truffle risotto is an absolute must. Great for lunch or dinner!

Amoudi Fish Tavern

This restaurant was recommended to us over and over again. The sunset here is second to none so make sure you come down in time for that! Alternatively come down during the day and bring a swimsuit to jump into the sea from the nearby cliffs. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff are delightful. I recommend the Sun Dried Octopus!

Catch Bar and Restuarant

We went to Catch twice because we loved it so much! It is a lively upscale bar with insane food (the beef carpaccio with truffle was one of my favourites) and the cocktails are made to perfection! This is one to get dressed up for and stay around after dinner to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy your drinks till the wee hours (but make sure to drink water in-between each drink so you don’t waste any time on a hangover the next day!)

I can’t wait to go back to Santorini next year and try even more that the island has to offer! If you have any recommendations please put them in the comment section below!

Lots of Love, Roxie xx
